WHICH SPORTS ARE EXCLUDEd

If you want to add adventure sports to your policy, you can customize your policy under the Sports & Activities Optional Coverage in the quoting platform. Our most frequently asked question is backcountry (which can be added) vs out-of-bounds (which is a permanent exclusion and cannot be added)

Backcountry means an area that is not marked, not patrolled and/or not cleared for avalanche dangers, but where public access is PERMITTED. Backcountry is also known as slack-country, side-country and/or off-piste. Heli-skiing or cat-skiing does not need to be added as it’s not excluded as a high-risk activity and is therefore included in your coverage.

Out of bounds means any mountain area that: A) Has been closed off to public access; or B) Has been identified as “out-of-bounds” and/or can typically only be accessed by crossing a fenced, gated or roped-off area that has been marked as off-limits according to recommendations of safety authorities in the area.

Aside from out-of-bounds snowsports, the following activities are permanently excluded and cannot be added as an optional sports rider. Participating in, training or practicing for any of the following sports or activities:

Barrel racing, Bronc riding, Bull riding, Chariot racing, Chuckwagon racing, Harness racing, Rodeo bareback racing, Rodeo clowning, Rodeo team roping, Steer wrestling/chute dogging, Trick riding.
